Security and SSL: Security that runs in the background.
Automated SSL, a web application firewall and regular checks for vulnerabilities, so your site stays trusted by browsers, search engines and customers.
Why it matters
An expired certificate puts a full-screen warning in front of every visitor. Automated bots probe sites for known weaknesses around the clock. And Google treats HTTPS as a baseline. Security works best when it's automated and watched, not set up once and forgotten.
Why SSL has to be automated
- Since March 2026
- 200daysRenewal roughly twice a year.
- From March 2027
- 100daysRenewal every three months or so.
- From March 2029
- 47daysRenewal every few weeks. By hand, it gets missed.
Maximum lifetime of a public TLS certificate, on the schedule agreed by the CA/Browser Forum.
What's included
- Security audit
- Site, server, plugins and dependencies checked for known vulnerabilities.
- Automated SSL
- Certificates issued and renewed automatically over the ACME protocol.
- Web application firewall
- Malicious requests and bot traffic blocked before they reach the site, with services such as Cloudflare.
- HTTPS everywhere
- Every page, image and script served securely, with no mixed-content warnings.
- Secure forms and payments
- Encrypted connections and careful handling of the data people send you.
- Updates
- Security patches applied to software and dependencies.
How it runs
Audit.
Site, server, certificates and dependencies.
Fix.
Known vulnerabilities and weak settings first.
Automate.
SSL renewal, updates and firewall rules.
Watch.
Ongoing monitoring and alerts.
Is it right for you?
A good fit if
- Your site handles enquiries, accounts or payments.
- You renew SSL certificates by hand.
- You've seen suspicious traffic or had a security incident.
Probably not the right fit if
- You need a formal penetration test or a certification audit. Those require an accredited auditor.
Questions
Our hosting includes a free SSL certificate. Isn't that enough?
It's a good start. What matters is that renewal is automated and that every resource on the site loads over HTTPS. We check both.
Does a small site need a firewall?
Small sites are targeted too, mostly by automated bots looking for known weaknesses. A managed firewall blocks most of that traffic before it reaches the server.
Will security slow the site down?
No. A well-configured firewall stops junk traffic before it reaches your server, which can even help response times.
